Frequently asked questions

How are doses calculated?

1 ppm equals 1 mg per litre. Chlorine products are converted by their available-chlorine percentage; liquid chlorine uses trade percent (grams of chlorine per 100 ml). Cal-hypo adds about 0.7 ppm of calcium hardness per ppm of chlorine, dichlor adds 0.9 ppm and trichlor 0.6 ppm of stabilizer. Acid and base doses for pH come from the carbonate equilibrium of your water, with total alkalinity and stabilizer taken into account — the same approach used by the Trouble Free Pool calculator. Chlorine targets follow the FC/CYA chart.

Why does my dose differ from the label?

Labels assume an average pool. PoolDose uses your exact volume, your stabilizer level and your product strength. If a number looks off, check the volume first — the volume calculator is in the pool's settings.

Any safety rules?

Never mix chemicals. Add chemicals to water, never water to acid. Wait at least 30 minutes with the pump running between different products. Keep people out of the water after shocking until chlorine returns to the normal range. Always follow the label on your products.

How do test reminders work?

In Settings → “Remind me to test”, pick the day and the time (9:00 by default). The free version reminds you one day a week; with Pro you can pick several days and get a nudge the morning after dosing. If nothing arrives, check iPhone Settings → Notifications → PoolDose.

Can I track a pool and a hot tub?

Yes, with PoolDose Pro — each body of water gets its own volume, chemicals and targets. The free version covers one.

How do I add the widget?

Home Screen: long-press an empty spot → “+” → PoolDose. Lock Screen: long-press the Lock Screen → Customize → tap the widget area → PoolDose. Widgets are part of PoolDose Pro.

How do purchases work?

PoolDose Pro is a monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Manage or cancel the subscription in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. “Restore purchases” in Settings brings Pro back after reinstalling or on a new iPhone with the same Apple account.

How do I delete my data?

Settings → “Reset all data”, or delete the app.
