Frequently asked questions

How does Siphon count days?

From the day of your last logged water change. Tap “Changed water today” after each change; the water in the tank picture clears, and the countdown to the next one restarts.

I changed water but forgot to tap.

Tap the tank picture (or “Adjust schedule or date”) and set the correct date — the count adjusts instantly.

What interval and percentage should I use?

Most freshwater tanks do well on 20–30 % weekly. Heavily stocked tanks need more, lightly stocked planted tanks can go longer. Rising nitrate is the usual signal to change water.

Reminders don't arrive.

Check Settings → Notifications → Siphon on your iPhone and make sure notifications are allowed. Inside Siphon, open Settings and confirm “Remind me” is on. Reminders come at the time you pick (10:00 by default): the day before (optional), on the due day, and one and three days after. The free version reminds you about water changes for one tank; Pro covers every tank and every care task.

Can I track more than one tank?

Yes, with Siphon Pro — each tank gets its own schedule, care tasks and water test log. The free version covers one tank.

How do I add the widget?

Home Screen: long-press an empty spot → “+” → Siphon. Lock Screen: long-press the Lock Screen → Customize → tap the widget area → Siphon. Widgets are part of Siphon Pro.

How do I restore Siphon Pro on a new phone?

Open Settings in Siphon and tap “Restore purchases” while signed in with the same Apple account.

How do I cancel the monthly plan?

iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Siphon Pro → Cancel. Lifetime is a one-time purchase and never renews.

Is this veterinary or professional advice?

No. Siphon is a reminder and a log. Test your water and watch your fish.
