How accurately can a phone screen measure ring size?
Orbita converts millimetres to screen points using the real display size of your model, and the slider moves in 0.1 mm steps. In practice accuracy depends on how carefully you match the circle to the inner edge of the ring: look at the screen straight from above and avoid rings with a thick bevel.
How do I measure correctly?
Lay the ring flat on the circle, look straight down and move the slider until the circle lines up with the ring’s inner edge, not the outer one. Take the ring off the finger it is worn on; a ring from another finger will give a different size.
Can I measure a finger instead of a ring?
Orbita measures a ring: the circle is matched to its inner edge. If you don’t have a suitable ring, measure the finger with a thread or a strip of paper and find the size in a conversion chart.
How are Russian ring sizes defined?
A Russian size is the inner diameter of the ring in millimetres, rounded to a whole or half value. For example, a ring about 17 mm across is size 17. Orbita shows RU sizes in steps of 0.5.
How do I convert a US ring size to another system?
As a guide, US 6 is about RU 16.5, US 7 about RU 17.5 and US 8 about RU 18. In Orbita you measure the ring once and switch the region in the list; the app recalculates the size for RU, EU, US, UK or JP.
Do I need the internet?
No. Measuring and conversion happen on the device. The internet is only needed to open the VIKOZA website with the “Choose an item” button.
Does Orbita work on iPad?
Yes, the app supports iPhone and iPad, and on iPad the scale is also calculated for the specific model’s screen. iOS or iPadOS 17 or later is required.
Does the app save my measurement?
No. The result is shown on screen and is not stored or sent anywhere. Write it down or take a screenshot if you want to keep it.
How do I find out someone’s ring size without them knowing?
The most reliable way is to borrow, for a couple of minutes, a ring they wear on the right finger and place it on the screen in Orbita.
