Manila – Emergency Binder
Manila Privacy Policy
In short: Manila does not collect your data. Your binders and photos never leave your iPhone.
Updated: 2026-10-06 · Developer: Artem Kolchin
What Manila stores
Everything you enter — your binders, the answers in all eleven chapters, photos of documents you attach, the review interval and your settings — is stored only on your device, inside the app's own container. Files are written with iOS file protection (encrypted while the device is locked).
Manila deliberately has no field for passwords. It records where your passwords are kept, not the passwords themselves.
A short summary for the widgets (binder name, completion percentage, review date, the name and phone number of your emergency contact) is kept in the app's shared container (an App Group) so the Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets can display it. It stays on the device.
What goes over the network
Nothing you enter leaves your device. Manila has no server, no user accounts and no cloud sync, so we never see your data. The app itself makes no network requests.
- No analytics, no crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no tracking.
- The only network traffic is made by Apple's StoreKit to show the price of Manila Pro, process the purchase and restore it.
- When you export or share a PDF, it goes only where you send it (AirDrop, Files, Mail, print and so on). Manila does not keep a copy anywhere else.
Purchases
Manila Pro is a one-time in-app purchase ($2.99) handled entirely by Apple. There is no subscription. We receive no payment details and no personal information from the purchase. Apple's handling of this data is described in Apple's privacy policy.
Permissions
All permissions are optional and are requested only when you turn on the feature that needs them.
- Face ID — to lock the app. Authentication is performed by iOS; Manila never sees your biometric data.
- Photos and Camera — to attach a photo of a document to a card. Manila reads only the photo you pick or take and stores a copy in its own container on the device. It does not scan or upload your photo library.
- Notifications — for reminders to review the binder and, with Pro, warnings before a document in the binder expires. Reminders are scheduled locally on the device; nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.
Manila does not access your contacts, location, microphone or Health data.
Deleting your data
Open Settings inside Manila and tap “Delete everything on this device”, or simply delete the app. Either removes all binders, photos and settings Manila stored on your device. PDF files you exported elsewhere are under your control and are not affected.
Children
Manila is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated date.
